Festival and competition results in PE 2019 2020

Festival and competition results 2019-20:

During this academic year so far, we have competed in a number of festivals and competitions and achieved some fantastic results.


Wednesday 25th September 2019

Tag Rugby:

A team of 10 year 6 pupils finished 3rd in the first festival of the year. After losing the first game, the team worked hard to ensure that they remained unbeaten in the rest of their matches.



Thursday 24th October 2019


During the first badminton festival of the year, our year 4 pupils drew upon their agility, power, balance and coordination to compete against a number of schools. Two of our teams reached the quarter final stage of the competition.


Wednesday 9th October 2019


We achieved a 3rd place finish in our only hockey event so far this year. Our team of year 5 and 6 pupils impressed the competition organisers with their determination to improve after each match.



Wednesday 30th October 2019

KS2 Multisport:

In this non-competitive festival, our team of year 5 girls developed their accuracy, balance and agility while competing in dodgeball and Frisbee games. This festival was a great opportunity for the team to experience sport within a competitive environment.


Wednesday 13th November 2019


Our year 6 football team finished in 3rd place in their festival at Soar Valley College. They won one game 2-0, drew 2 games and lost one game during the competition. The team grew in confidence as each game progressed.  


Wednesday 27th November 2019

KS2 Multisport:


Our team of year 4,5 and 6 pupils competed in a multi-sport festival at Soar Valley College. The children participated in a range of sporting activities such as frisbee, rugby and basketball. It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to compete against other schools in a friendly yet competitive environment. It was an extremely close competition and we finished in 3rd  place.


Wednesday 11th December 2019

Badminton Festival 2:

In the second badminton tournament of the year, one of our five teams managed to reach the quarter final stage of the competition. In the competition, there were a number of strong teams and our pupils were able to test their skills in a challenging environment. The children were motivated to succeed and represented the school well.

KS1 Multisport Festival:


Overall our team of year 2 and year 3 pupils finished in 2nd position in this festival. Our year 2 children also won their year group competition event. The children participated in a range of sports to test their determination, stamina and accuracy. These children will continue to develop their skills and transfer these into year 5/6 competitions in the next few years.


KS2 Dodgeball

Thursday 6th February 2020

Dodgeball is always one of the most popular sports for children at Sandfield Close and this year we were able to send two teams to compete in the festival. One of the teams managed to win 4 games and finished in 2nd place – a great achievement.


KS2 Football

Thursday 6th February 2020


We sent a team of year 6 children to compete in a non-competitive football and multisport festival. The children relished the opportunity to compete against other schools. It was also a great opportunity to develop their agility, coordination and collaboration.


Year 3 Rugby Festival

Thursday 13th February 2020

After completing four sessions in curriculum time with a rugby coach from Leicester Tigers, ten year 3 children were given the opportunity to put their skills to the test in a competitive tournament. The team played fantastically and improved as the tournament progressed. The team won 2 matches and scored some fantastic tries.


KS2 Ultimate Frisbee

Wednesday 4th March 2020



A team of year 4 children enjoyed participating in the yearly ultimate Frisbee festival at Soar Valley College. After being coached by a group of young leaders, the team performed excellently against the other schools. This festival was an opportunity for the children to engage with other pupils from other schools so that they could develop social skills and understand the importance of competition.


KS2 Quicksticks

Wednesday 11th March 2020

We sent a team of year 3 children and a team of year 6 children to participate in this festival. The teams played against five other schools. In doing so, they were able to develop their understanding of how to work as part of a team. The children were also able to consider the importance of finding space and attacking as a team.


KS2 Netball League.

Thursday 12th March 2020

Our team of year six pupils competed well in the first of two netball leagues. The team understood the positions and rotations necessary to compete in netball matches. It was fantastic to see the children improve after each match.
