An Invasion of Woolly Worms at Sandfield
Year 1 went into the Nature Area and collected the Woolly Worms
There were short ones, long ones, thin ones, thick ones, white ones, blue ones and poisonous red ones. There were some brilliant worm catchers. We collected as many of them as we could and took them back into the classroom. In the classroom we tried to sort and rank them. Which was the longest? The shortest? The rarest? the most common?
This is an important scientific skill and the children tried really hard. It was quite easy to sort them into colours. Then we could see which were the rare ones.
We wonder if we left any behind? What will happen to them?
