Y4 learnt about the importance of having a balanced diet

Kate Snow from 'Quorn foods' came to school to do a food demonstration for both Year 4 classes.

On Wednesday 19th June Kate Snow from 'Quorn foods' came to school to do a food demonstration for both Year 4 classes. The children were very excited when they saw that a year 4  classroom had been converted into a kitchen. She explained the importance of having a balanced diet and the children identified all the important food groups. The children learnt all about the benefits of eating quorn and why it is a better source of food for the environment than eating meat. They also learnt about how much fruit and vegetables they should eat a day and the benefits of it to their health and well being.  The session involved making quorn sausage rolls with raita and Boston baked beans with quorn burgers. Some children helped cook these wonderful dishes and the best part of the session was that the children were able to sample the food made which was delicious. The aroma of these mouth watering dishes filled the school and attracted many staff members with intrigue.
