Dinosaur week at Sandfield Close Primary School
At Sandfield Close Mrs Dhillon always tries to make our learning memorable. This year for Science Week she purchased two huge paper mache dinosaurs.
With the help of the staff at Sandfield we assembled them like a 3d jigsaw, stuck them together with lots of paper and glue and then painted them. This was the bit that everyone enjoyed Mrs Bali, came into school as a STEM Ambassador and helped groups of children transform the brown paper into an amazing camouflage. Other members of staff then helped to add the details - it really was a team effort. We are now debating if we should stick feathers onto the T-Rex as latest scientific evidence suggests they were feathered like chickens! However this might make them difficult to paint in the future.
The prehistoric creatures looked amazing in our Nature Area and children will have the chance to be photographed with them for many years to come and it will be a reminder of all the cross curricular learning that took place. Sandfield works with many organisations to promote different initiatives and visitors this week have all wanted their photos taken with our new additions.
