Poetry and a special school lunch!

All children at Sandfield Close had a super special school lunch whilst celebrating our love of poetry!

Jody and her team hosted a special school lunch today in conjunction with Poetry day. All children were invited to join in by having a school lunch whilst admiring the Poet Tree in the hall which looked amazing! Children were asked to write poems for our special school lunch and poetry day and many poems were handed in and displayed around the hall and dangling from the Poet Tree that Mrs. Pankhania designed.

Well done to Jody and her team and to all our poets!

Not only did we celebrate poetry during lunchtime, we also spent time reading, enjoying, learning and reciting poetry through the day. Take a look at some of the photos and videos of children reciting poetry below. Children in KS2 did so well having only heard the poems for ten minutes before learning and reciting them.

Year 1 were also fantastic as they recited a poem they had been learning through the week.

We will be running a 'poetry slam' next week whereby all classes will recite poems to each other!
