We have achieved the school Games Mark Gold Award!
Mr Taylor has given a special thanks to our pupils for their dedication, ambition and desire.
We are delighted to announce that we, Sandfield Close Primary School, have achieved the School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2018/19 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include:
Competing in new events such as dodgeball, cross country running and ultimate frisbee.
Engaging with coaches from Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicester City Football Club, Leicester Tigers Rugby Club, The Badminton Association, a PGA golf coach, cheerdance coaches, judo coaches and many others.
More boys and girls coming to sports clubs than ever before.
Hosting more than 13 inter-house and inter-class competitions.
Achieving fantastic results in competitions involving other schools.
Using a focus on healthy living and the Daily Boost to improve our fitness levels. Every day all pupils undertake additional exercise to support both their fitness levels and classroom-based learning.
Promoting and upholding our school values during each competition that we have competed in - both in school and against other schools.
Introducing new sports and activities into curriculum lessons to engage all children and promote the importance of healthy living.
Using young sports leaders to increase the number of opportunities for children to undertake physical activity and exercise.
With more young people than ever before competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to:
All of the pupils for their dedication, ambition and desire.
We look forward to applying once again in 2020!
