Lunchtimes at Sandfield Close Primary School

At Sandfield Close Primary School, we are committed to giving every child the best start to their day – and that includes a nutritious, tasty school meal they’ll look forward to. All our meals are freshly prepared on-site by Aimee and her dedicated catering team.

We are delighted to partner with Leicestershire Traded Services (LTS) Catering) – part of Leicestershire County Council – to provide our pupils with high-quality, freshly prepared meals each day.

Meal Options

Children can either bring a packed lunch from home or have a school meal. To help lunchtimes run smoothly and efficiently, children are asked to stick to the same option Monday to Friday and for at least half a term. If you need to change your child’s lunchtime arrangements, please visit the school office to discuss this.

Children staying for school meals or bringing packed lunches must remain on the school premises during lunchtime; leaving the school site is not permitted.

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)

All children in Reception to Year 2 are eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM), meaning they can enjoy a free, healthy school lunch every day. This initiative ensures that younger pupils receive nutritious meals to support their learning and wellbeing.

School Meals

School meals for children in Years 3 and above cost £2.90 per day or £14.50 per week. Dinner money should be paid at least one week in advance via ParentMail.

Parents applying for Free School Meals should note that meals must be paid for until the school receives official confirmation and a voucher from Leicester City Council. For more information and to apply, please visit: https://www.leicester.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/grants-and-allowances/free-school-meals/

Packed Lunches

Children who bring packed lunches eat in the dining hall or outside during the summer term, enjoying a social and pleasant lunchtime experience.

Healthy Eating and Safety

To promote healthy eating and ensure the safety of all pupils, please adhere to the following guidelines when preparing packed lunches:

  • No nuts or nut-based products — we have children with severe allergies.
  • No fizzy drinks or sugary beverages — please provide water or healthy drinks instead.
  • Include healthy snacks and balanced portions to support your child’s energy and concentration throughout the afternoon.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, happy, and healthy lunchtime environment for all our pupils!
